Business English
What you should know about English
English is spoken by approx. 340 million native speakers in several countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and a number of Caribbean nations, and it is an official language of almost 60 sovereign states. It is the third most common native language in the world, after Mandarin and Spanish.
It is an official language of the European Union, many Commonwealth countries and the United Nations, as well as in many world organisations. English, sometimes described as the first global lingua franca, is not only the dominant language in many cases it is even the required international language of communications in fields such as science, information technology, business, seafaring, aviation, entertainment, radio, and diplomacy.
